Stuart Baxter has resigned from his Bafana Bafana managerial post.
The Scottish mentor raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he called for a media briefing to confirm that he will be holding a press conference at a private venue on Friday [today].
The 65-year-old Englishman has now since confirmed that he would be stepping down despite still having three more years to run on his SAFA contract.
Baxter’s decision to walk away from his national team post comes just weeks after South Africa reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, bundling out the hosts in the last 16, but fell short of a semi-final berth losing 2-1 to old foes Nigeria.
It was a second spell in charge of South Africa for the Scotsman, with many questioning where his next destination lies.
