Bafana’s highlight during the tournament was the 1-0 victory over host nation Egypt in the last 16, but Stuart Baxter’s charges lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the quarter-finals.

‘Rhee’ believes the players should have given out more effort for the national team, labeling their performance as “bad”.

“Performance-wise, I thought it was bad. But then again, you know with Bafana it’s always confusing because they’re going to give you one half of good football,” Zuma told KickOff.com.

“So, you can’t say everything was all bad, but when looking at the games, I still believe they should have beaten Ivory Coast,” added Zuma.

“The game against Nigeria, I still believe they should have won that game, so really it was not a good tournament [overall],” explained Zuma.

“Our team always shows improvement because we have those individuals [who step up], but as a team we didn’t do well,” Zuma concluded.
