The 61-year-old coach was shown the exit door at Naturena after failing to lead the Glamour Boys to the PSL title, and was pipped to the gong by Mamelodi Sundowns on the last day of the season.

By the time of his dismissal, Middendorp had one year left on his contract, but the club opted to part company with him and his assistant Shaun Bartlett.

After his exit from the Glamour Boys, Middendorp was thought to have been courted by the defunct Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) but nothing came of the talk.

According to sources coming out of Ethiopia, Middendorp has been roped in by giants Saint George on a three-year deal.

Saint George campaign in the Ethipian Premier League and have been crowned league champions 29 times, with their last triumph coming back in 2017, though they won the Addis Ababa City Cup last year.
