Khanye, 34, who has time and again reiterated that he has not yet hung up his soccer boots, will play the role of a talented footballer named Gift in the series called Vula Vala, which features legends of the South African film industry like Sello Maake Ka-Ncube, Darlington Michaels and Tina Jaxa.

The drama series is set to be shot in KwaThema in Gauteng’s Ekurhuleni, and “Aghahowa” will be seen as a crowd favourite, similar to his heyday in Amakhosi colours, and will be playing for a family-owned club whose boss Bra Rex (Maake Ka-Ncube) was a footballer himself.

The Daveyton-born Khanye will now be following in the footsteps of his former Chiefs teammate Jabu (Pule) Mahlangu who has had TV roles where he has featured on the likes of Sam’ Sokolo.
