Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has joined up with the squad in the PSL bio-bubble for their remaining two matches after serving his suspension for the duration of August.
“Bobsteak” was suspended by Amakhosi for the whole of last month following leaked videos of him contravening lockdown regulations, after being filmed at a house party in Johannesburg, prior to President Cyril Ramaphosa moving the country to Level 2 last month.
Since entering the PSL bio-bubble, the Glamour Boys have won just a single match, losing three and playing to two draws, though they still find themselves at the summit of the Absa Premiership standings level on points with second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns but with a superior goal difference.
With what seems like a divided Chiefs camp with how results have panned out of late, as well as a reported fallout between senior players and technical staff, Motaung’s presence could be a welcomed sight to offer moral support to the team as they aim to bag league honours since the 2014/15 season.
Ernst Middendorp’s charges have another chance to stretch their lead at the top of the standings when they host Chippa United at Orlando Stadium later this evening after losing their last match 1-0 to Bidvest Wits.
