Title-chasing Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a major injury blow ahead of tomorrow’s Absa Premiership clash against Chippa United.
The Glamour Boys confirmed late on Monday that goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi would not play part in the remaining two matches of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season after suffering a concussion against Bidvest Wits on Sunday. The Nigerian international failed to finish the match and was subsequently replaced by Bruce Bvuma, who conceded a goal in the last minute of the match, as Chiefs narrowly lost out 1-0 to the Clever Boys.
Amakhosi have continued to remain tight-lipped on the whereabouts of club captain Itumeleng Khune who has been excluded from the team’s matchday squads in the past few matches.
The club’s social media pages have however continued to post images of the Bafana Bafana international in training, which again raises questions if Khune is available for selection.
Reports have recently emerged that Khune had a fallout with head coach Ernst Middendorp, which eventually saw him being barred from the German’s team selection and into the stands.
“Itu” recently also confirmed that he was taking a break from social media, and it’s unknown if he was instructed by the club to do so, of it was from his own personal capacity.
Football Manager Bobby Motaung has also since reported back at work today (Tuesday) after serving suspension for the duration of August following leaked videos of him contravening lockdown regulations, after being filmed at a house party in Johannesburg.
