A Bidvest Wits star player is reportedly set to become one of the highest paid players in the Absa Premiership with a monthly salary said to be over R500,000 once he completes his move to Orlando Pirates next season.
The Buccaneers have already completed the signings of Wits duo, captain Thulani Hlatshwayo and attacker Deon Hotto ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, and the Namibian international will be smiling all the way to the bank when he dons the Black and White colours of the Sea Robbers.
Hotto, 28, currently pockets around R200 000 a month at the Clever Boys, but will now see his salary double up from an annual salary of R2‚4m at Wits to just over R7m per annum when he turns out for the Mayfair outfit.
“Hotto will become [one] of the best paid players in the PSL. This is a ground-breaking deal. He has always wanted to play for Orlando Pirates and now his dream has come true,” an insider said according to TimesLIVE.
“His salary will balloon from something around R200‚000 to over half-a-million [a month] next season.”
Pirates senior manager Floyd Mbele declined to mention if Hotto had signed for Bucs.
“I can’t talk about people that are not Pirates players. The season is still on. Why would I discuss transfers when the season is on.
“I am not aware that Deon Hotto has joined Pirates. You have information that I don’t know about,” said Mbele.
Hotto has been one of Wits’ most standout performers this campaign, racking up five goals and four assists in 24 appearances for the Students.
