It was a weekend of bad results for South Africa’s foreign contigency who had it rough at their respective teams.
Here’s a look at how it all panned out:
Lebo Moloto – USL Championship
Moloto played the entire match for FC Tulsa, who recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rio Grande.
Keanin Ayer & Luke Le Roux – Swedish Allsvenskan
Both South African youth players featured a part for Varbergs BoIS, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Ostersunds.
George Lebese – USL Championship
The former Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder opened his account of the new campaign and was also named the Man of the Match, but ended up on the losing side as Colorado Springs Switchbacks were beaten 2-1 by Real Monarchs.
Lebese was hauled off in the 71st minute before his side conceded the last goal in the 93rd minute.
Tumi Moshobane – USL Championship
The former Kaizer Chiefs youth attacker featured for 90 minutes for San Diego Loyal, who were held to a 0-0 stalemate at home by Sacramento Republic.
Ayabulela Konqobe & Darren Smith – Finnish Second Division
After an unbeaten streak running for five matches, the South African duo suffered their first defeat of the season as Ekenas IF were narrowly edged 1-0 by KTP.
Linda Motlhalo – Swedish Damallsvenskan
The Banyana Banyana international attacker started and finished the match for Djurgardens IF who succumbed to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Vaxjo DFF W.
Lars Veldwijk – South Korean K-2 League
The towering Bafana Bafana striker made his first appearance for Suwon City, after leaving South Korean K-League champions Jeonbuk Motors, and could do little for his charges who were beaten 2-1 by Ansan Greeners.
Darren Keet – Belgium Proximus League
The Bafana Bafana shotstopper played the full 90 minutes for OH Leuven who were hammered 4-0 by Germinal Beerschot.
