CONCLUDED: 2019/20 Premier League season finale recap

It was a dramatic final day of Gameweek 38 in the Premier League, with the season finally concluding on Sunday, July 26.

Manchester United and Chelsea joined champions Liverpool and Manchester City into the Champions League for the 2020/21 campaign.

Bournemouth and Watford were both relegated on dramatic final day after results did not favour them.

Leicester City missed out on Champions League football, and joined Tottenham into Europa League, while Aston Villa sealed Premier League survival.

Here’s a look at how results panned out on the final day of the season:

Arsenal 3-2 Watford

The Gunners sent Watford, who sacked Nigel Pearson just two games ago, to the Championship after they finished second-bottom.

Burnley 1-2 Brighton

The Seagulls ended the campaign with their third unbeaten match on the trot, to take 15th spot.

Chelsea 2-0 Wolves

The Blues grabbed the last Champions League spot, finishing level on points with Manchester United, with the latter taking third spot courtesy of a superior goal difference.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs sneaked into the Europa League above Wolves who lost their tie away at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho will be looking to seriously challenge for the Europa trophy in the new term, having won it with Manchester United in 2017.

Everton 1-3 Bournemouth

Despite their brilliant and brave 3-1 win at Everton, the win was not enough to lift the Cherries out of the drop zone who got relegated and will be playing in the Championship next season.

Leicester City 0-2 Man United

It was not the prettiest of jobs from United, who needed just a point to secure a top-four finish, but Bruno Fernandes’ cool penalty and Jesse Lingard’s late goal led Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops to a 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium to grab third place, level on 66 points with fourth-placed Chelsea.

The Foxes settled for the Europa League next term.

Jamie Vardy won the 2019-20 Premier League Golden Boot after scoring 23 goals for Leicester this camapign, pipping the likes of Southampton’s Danny Ings, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling to the top scorer award.

Man City 5-0 Norwich City

The Citizens hammered already relegated Norwich to finish second.

David Silva played his last match for the club after 10 years at the Etihad Stadium, becoming the last player of the 2011 FA Cup winning squad to leave the club.

City also had something to celebrate on the final day of the campaign, with goalkeeper Ederson winning the 2019/20 Golden Glove after keeping 16 clean sheets.

Newcastle 1-3 Liverpool

The Reds fell just one point short off the 100-point mark with a convincing victory at St. James’ Park.
