LIVERPOOL midfielder James Milner on Wednesday cut a controversial figure amid the new Premier League champions’ title celebrations at Anfield. The ecstatic Milner took a sharp jab at Manchester United and did not flinch.

He labelled the Reds’ arch-rivals as “‘f**king w*nkers!” after Liverpool became champions of England for the first time in 30-years on June 25, racing to the title in record time with seven games in hand following Chelsea’s victory over previous holder’s Manchester City.

Wednesday evening finally ushered in Liverpool’s much-anticipated moment of glory as the red squad collected their prize. Captain Jordan Henderson lifting the trophy aloft behind closed doors as the threat of coronavirus continues to see strict measures in place. Liverpool stormed to a thrilling 5-3 victory against Chelsea, before this, collecting all three points en route to now sitting on 96 points for the campaign with a single game to play.

As the squad gathered on a platform in the stands to be awarded their winners’ medals, Georginio Wijnaldum’s Instagram Live video which captured the celebratory moment, picked up on Milner taking a jab at United – who are 13-time Premier League champions. The 34-year-old was heard saying: “It’s the first time I ever wanted a red ribbon. It’s always been United before. F*cking w*nkers!”
