The 21-year-old’s response was hilarious as he did not choose either player, instead, naming teammate and midfielder Jordan Henderson, as his pick. Alexander-Arnold was taking part in a social media Q&A session on Twitter when he gave his humourous reply earlier this season. Among the many questions thrown at him, the most controversial certainly emerged as whether he “would rather play with Messi or Ronaldo?”

When Alexander-Arnold replied by naming his club colleague Henderson, Liverpool fans were, needless to say, impressed with his answer. “Hendo propaganda we move,” one social media user wrote in reply to Alexander-Arnold’s answer. A second user tweeted: “What an answer” while a third added: “MASSIVE DUB.”

The English international, however, has on a previous occasion named Messi as the toughest opponent he has faced during his career. The social media session continued as he hailed Steven Gerrard as his Liverpool idol while picking Thierry Henry and Zinedine Zidane as his non-Liverpool idols. Alexander-Arnold was also asked to pick his favourite goal of his career, in response to which he selected his free-kick against Hoffenheim.

Alexander-Arnold scored a stunning free-kick in his last Liverpool outing as the Reds thumped Crystal Palace last week, en route to his side being declared Premier League champions after Manchester City went down to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. The 21-year-old has enjoyed an incredible campaign on the right flank as he’s weighed in with three goals and an impressive 12 assists, so far, this season.
