The Spanish publication Marca decided to compile a list of the most defining athletes of the last 20 years, with American swimming sensation and the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, emerging as the single greatest sportsman of this period.
The American burst his way to sporting greatness with an unthinkable haul 28 medals overall and 13 individual gold medals, all achieved on the Olympic Games stage. Check out the full list below.
