Barcelona’s sharp-shooter Lionel Messi recently set the tongues of many a Twitter user wagging with a certain skill beyond the football pitch. Messi and his wife of three years, Antonela Roccuzzo, were filmed locking lips for a music video by Puerto Rican rapper, Residente.

The track, titled Before the World Ends, features couples from around the world canoodling, including famous faces such as Hollywood star Ben Affleck and actress partner Ana de Armas as well as Mexican boxer, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and his beau, Fernanda Gómez. But it’s the appearance of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner which got eyes bulging out, more so as fans found it a shock to the system seeing the footballing megastar in such an untypical context.

Another tweet read: “Can you stop posting the Messi kiss please.” Some said they were “disturbed” by the clip; comparing it to seeing their parents kissing, and pondered whether one of Messi’s sons had been behind the camera filming the tangle of tongues.
Some felt that Messi’s kissing skills matched his footballing brilliance though, defending his tongue technique as second to none. Messi and Roccuzzo are childhood sweethearts from their time growing up in Rosario, Argentina and have three sons together – Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.
They tied the knot at a glittering ceremony, in what was called the “wedding of the century”, held at a luxury hotel in the Messi’s hometown and was attended by a number of VIP guests who flew in on private jets. Their recent viral kiss is not the first time Messi’s smooching technique has come under scrutiny. His kiss with Roccuzzo at their wedding was deemed ‘the worst ever’ by a user on YouTube.
