Tau loses out on Brugge’s Player of the Year award to African star

Bafana Bafana talisman Percy Tau narrowly missed out on being crowned Club Brugge’s Player of the Year, after the award went to one of his teammates.

Tau, 26, was part of Brugge’s players who had been nominated for the Player of the Year accolade at the club.

The pacey forward was hoping to scoop another individual award for the second season running after being crowned Proximus League Player of the Season last season following his scintillating first season with Belgian second division side Union Saint-Gilloise.

Clinton Mata, who was born in Belgium but represents Angola at national team level, scooped the club’s main award, after putting in a great shift this past campaign which saw him play 25 matches, providing two assists, aiding the Black and Blue to their 16th Jupiler Pro League title.
