In-form striker Gabadinho Mhango could be lost to Orlando Pirates in the not-so distant future with his agent admitting there was growing interest in his client from abroad.

The 27-year-old Malawian international could join the elite list of players who finished as top goalscorers in the PSL which saw them sealing overseas deals.

Players like Collins Mbesuma, Mame Niang, Chris Katongo, James Chamanga, Knowledge Musona, Lebo Manyama and Percy Tau all secured deals abroad after winning the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award.

The player’s agent, Mike Makaab of ProSport International, admitted that his client had caught the eyes of the international market already following his exploits for the Buccaneers this campaign.

“I’ll be lying to you if I said there wasn’t any interest overseas for Mhango,” Makaab told Independent Media.

“Orlando Pirates have given him a great opportunity to showcase his talent. We know he is talented.”

Makaab further articulated that if a deal for Mhango was to be concluded, it would be through the club’s blessings as he’s still contracted to the Soweto giants until June 2022.

“Whatever happens, will only happen with the blessing of Orlando Pirates. The deal will only happen if it is good for all parties,” he said.

With 14 league goals already to his name this campaign, the former Bidvest Wits hitman is well on course to become the first Pirates striker in 17 years to scoop the top goalscorer award, which was last won by the late Manyathela himself.
