The 66-year-old coach resigned from his role as head coach of the South African national team in August last year shortly after Bafana’s exit from the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

The reason behind Baxter’s departure was that he felt he did not have the support of the South African Football Association (SAFA) having guided Bafana to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The English mentor had the most success during his stint with the Glamour Boys having won two PSL titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8 in his time at Naturena.

The coach’s agent Steve Kapeluschnik has since revealed that the former SuperSport United coach would not be opposed to the idea of coaching a club in the country should the right offer come his way.

“No, he hasn’t been linked with Chiefs. What I said is that Baxter loves the country and if there is a project that is available and the timing is right for him and the project is right, he will consider the project,” Kapeluschnik told IOL.

“South Africa is always an option for him but I can’t say it is that club or this club. There will always be clubs that will enquire about his services because he has really, really done well here. I often get calls about that.”
