Following the announcement that coach Pitso Mosimane has extended his stay at Chloorkop, we take a unique peek behind the scenes as Mamelodi Sundowns and their head coach extended their marriage by four more years on Thursday afternoon.
The Tshwane giants held a virtual press conference at Chloorkop, amid the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions, which required strict social distancing and journalists having to follow proceedings on Zoom.
The club’s president Patrice Motsepe together with coach Mosimane and Jose Roman Alexanko, gathered around the boardroom table to announce some new developments within the technical structure.
Speculation that surrounded coach Mosimane’s future was finally put to bed as a deal was struck that will keep ‘Jingles’ in the job until 2024 while promotion was handed to former Barcelona academy director Alexanko, who had been serving as the club’s head of youth since September last year.
The Spaniard will now head up the technical team in which he will be overseeing matters relating both to the first team and the development structures.
Motsepe further gave updates on The Brazilians’ 50th anniversary which was scheduled to take place at the end of the 2019/20 season and he also announced a challenge for the supporters.
Given the current situation that has affected football worldwide, a different direction has been taken with regards to how supporters can celebrate the milestone.
