Springboks Rugby World Cup-winning pair to depart South Africa

The exits are happening in droves from South African shores as the Springboks Rugby World Cup-winning duo of Damian de Allende and RG Snyman are set to embark on the next chapter of their respective careers. Irish club Munster confirmed on Tuesday that the pair have been recruited into their ranks ahead of next season.

De Allende and Snyman will officially join Munster on July 1 per a statement released on their official website. De Allende had left Japan earlier this month before completing a mandatory 14-day self-isolation period in Ireland ahead of an indefinite stall in the global game.

Damian has followed all measures and completed his self-isolation period,” read the statement from Munster. “The World Cup-winning centre will use the upcoming weeks to finalise living arrangements and settle into his new life in Limerick (a city in Munster) ahead of the 2020/21 season. RG is expected to arrive at the end of the month.”

Meanwhile, the Irish club confirmed that South African prop Keynan Knox is one of four academy players who have been promoted to their senior squad for the new season. Munster, who were second in Conference B when the PRO14 was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, are coached by former Springbok assistant Johann van Graan.
