According to his agent Joao Bittencourt, Castro attracted interest from the Botola Pro and Egyptian Premier League, however, he opted to remain in South Africa and move to Naturena in a reported R2-million transfer.

The lethal striker has so far netted 20 times with nine assists in 68 games since his arrival at Naturena, becoming an integral part of the current league leaders, whilst forming a dangerous partnership upfront with Samir Nurkovic.

“There was interest from Egyptian and Moroccan clubs with former Sundowns player Castro, but his club refused his departure,” his agent was quoted by KickOff.Com

“[This was] before he received a bigger offer from Kaizer Chiefs and he agreed to accept it [and leave Sundowns]. I am a good follower of the Egyptian league, and I would like to bring players to Egyptian clubs from South America,” he added.

“Al-Ahly and Zamalek also have distinguished players such as Ali Maaloul, Ramadan Sobhi, Tariq Hamid, Ferjani Sassi and Ashraf bin Sharqi.”
