The Colombian marksman will see his current deal expire in June 2020, and he is said to have put forth certain demands to the club, that includes regular game-time, if he’s to pen a new contract.

Castro, 30, has had a blistering form in the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign, finding the back of the net on seven occasions with a single assist in 15 league matches for the Glamour Boys.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns forward was on the brink of being transfer-listed by the club, but has now become a key figure for Ernst Middendorp’s charges as they continue their hunt for the PSL title.

Now, despite talks of a possible return to Sundowns and with reported strong interest from North Africa, Castro might just have given an indication that he is ready to commit his future to the Soweto giants.

“For me, it is a great honour to be part of the legacy of Chiefs in this moment… We all know what Kaizer Chiefs means to South African football, ” he was quoted as saying on the official Chiefs instagram account.

“Everyone wants to be part of this team, this is the biggest team in South Africa, once you get into this team you want to give everything to remain part of this club.”

Since joining Chiefs two seasons ago, Castro has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround at Naturena, scoring 13 times in 47 appearances for Chiefs, which is a better record compared to what he achieved at Sundowns (10 goals in 39 matches).
