Following heated speculation linking Maritzburg United star duo Richard Ofori and Rushine De Reuck with a possible move to the mighty Buccaneers, the former Pirates captain has identified them as the missing pieces of the puzzle for the Soweto giants.
The 43-year-old retired defender believes that signing the duo would help the Sea Robbers in order to challenge for the league in the 2020/21 season.
“First the goalkeeper Richard Ofori, I like the guy you know. Sometimes I wish I was still playing alongside him. He’s one of the players I need at Orlando Pirates,” the double treble-winning legend told KickOff.com.
Lekgwathi identifies De Reuck as another player who can make a huge impact and believes he would be a good investment for the club as he is still young.
“As much as the chairman has assembled a good squad, I would also like him to add Rushine De Reuck. I watched him in the Telkom Knockout and I would give him player of that tournament,” Lekwathi says.
“He really did magic in there and has been consistent in the league too. I remember against Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela giving Samir Nurkovic a hard time, and I said that boy, if I was a coach, I would’ve signed him. And I so wish Pirates can get him.”
