Mosimane confirmed that he had put forth a proposal to the club in order for him to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, but has however had to play the waiting game on an official confirmation from the club.

News that has since made the rounds is that the club is against the wall regarding Mosimane’s demands, and are already looking at the possibility of bringing in a new head coach, with a few names already having been mentioned.

Former Sundowns midfielder Dan Malesela’s name has been bandied about as the next man in line to take over the Masandawana hot seat. In fact, sources close to the club have confirmed that Malesela’s name has come up in the Chloorkop corridors, with the coach also admitting that he would not blink twice if his former club came calling.

“It is no secret that I’m a very big Sundowns fan, but they still have a coach emplyed at this stage, ” Malesela told Daily Sun.

“I wouldn’t want to be seen gunning for Pitso’s job.

“Look, I am open to offers from any club. Even if Sundowns would make me an offer I would take it if they don’t have a coach.”

“Dance” further confirmed he has been approached by teams both in the PSL and lower divisions, since parting ways with GladAfrica Championship outfit TS Galaxy, though there has not been formal offers as of yet.

“I have heard a lot of rumours about clubs that are in need of my services, but I have not received any offer.

“I must say, there have been approaches from other big clubs in the PSL and lower divisions, but nothing has been formalised, ” added Malesela.

Another name that has been hotly tipped for the Sundowns coaching post is that of assistant coach Manqoba Mnqithi, with club legend John Tlale describing him as the ‘solution’ for continuity should Pitso leave.
