WATCH: Ramaphosa visits the Zion City in Moria

The South African government released a video of President Ramaphosa and a ministerial delegation as they visited the Z.C.C city of Moria on Sunday.

The city is the location of the annual Easter pilgrimage of the Zion Christian Church, with a average turnout of about 3-million people.

In late March, the church announced that it made the decision to suspend the gathering this year.

“The church’s spiritual leader, His Grace the Reverend Dr BE Lekganyane, made the decision on Friday 13 March following a briefing meeting with the leadership of the church with a delegation from national government led by Dr Zweli Mkhize,” said Emmanuel Motolla, spokesperson for the church.

The Presidency said it was a courtesy visit to express gratitude to the Zion churches, to provide update on government’s response to curbing the spread of the coronavirus, to seek the advice and counsel of the church, and to ask for prayers for the nation in the fight against Covid-19.
