Chiefs players dominate Bafana squad

With the international break just two weeks away, players will be making trips around the continent as they honour their respective national team call ups.

Absa Premiership league leaders Kaizer Chiefs have a total of eight players who have been called up to represent their respective national teams, and five of those players have been roped into Molefi Ntseki’s 25-man Bafana Bafana squad that will take on minnows Sao Tome and Principe on March 27 and 31 respectively.

Here’s a break down of the five players, and how many national team caps they have racked up since breaking into the Bafana set up.

Itumeleng Khune – Age 32 (91 National team caps – made his Bafana debut at 20 years under Carlos Alberto Parreira in 2008)

Eric Mathoho – Age 29 (34 National team caps, 1 goal – made his debut at 21 years under Pitso Mosimane in 2011)

Reeve Frosler – Age 22 (1 National team cap – Broke into the Bafana fold at 20 years under Stuart Baxter in 2018)

Lebogang Manyama – Age 29 (15 National team caps, 1 goal – made his debut at 22 years under Gordon Igesund in 2013)

George Maluleka – Age 31 (5 National team caps – made his debut for Bafana at 22 years under Pitso Mosimane in 2011)

Amakhosi also have other three players, who will do duty for their national teams. Khama Billiat for ZimBabwe, Daniel Akpeyi with Nigeria and Anthony Agay Akumu for Kenya.
