The fixture was scheduled to be contested in Turin on Wednesday and follows the postponed of five Serie A matches at the weekend, including the other huge match-up between Juventus and Inter Milan at Allianz Stadium. The latest postponement involving Juve came as the Civil Protection Agency of Italy released a statement that 27 people had died of the illness in the European country in 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths to 79.

Other reports to emerge over the last few days noted that sports events have been banned in three regions, namely, Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna and in two provinces. A Juventus statement said the game is postponed to a date yet to be announced. After settling for a 1-all draw last time out, the two teams were due to meet with the tie finely balanced after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late penalty to rescue a draw in the first leg.

Napoli are due to host Inter Milan in the other Coppa Italia game on Thursday, ahead of deciding the two teams to progress to the final on May 13. Juventus are the competitions record title-holders with 13, losing out on a 14th such honour after falling in the quarter-finals to Atalanta in 2018/20.
