It was at a similar stage of the competition where the eight-time African champions suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Tshwane giants, who eventually won the tie 5-1 on aggregate.

The Club of the Century have enjoyed a near-perfect season domestically, having won all of their league games to open up a considerable gap at the top of the Egyptian Premier League with their most recent result against bitter rivals Zamalek.

Masandawana, on the other hand, remain unbeaten in the ongoing edition of the Champions League and finished top of Group C ahead of the likes of Wdad Athletic Club and USM Alger.

Coach Pitso Mosimane’s charges finished the group unbeaten with 14 points after six games where they won four of their games while drawing two draws, meanwhile coach René Weiler’s troops finished second in Group B with 11 points after six games having won three of their matches, drew two and lost one.

Head-to-head

Overall, the two African giants met twice with both sides getting a fair chance of victory at home.
