Pitso backs struggling Sundowns midfielder!

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has given Lebohang Maboe his full support after fans bashed him for failing to score at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilians edged Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 to climb back to second place in the league standings and four points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs with 10 matches remaining this season.

However, despite the victory, some Sundowns supporters were seemingly frustrated after attacking midfielder Maboe missed a few scoring opportunities which resulted in second-half substitution.

“He was our top goalscorer last year. He is stressing to score. He is trying too hard,” said Mosimane as quoted by Kickoff.Com

“That’s the challenge to score. He wants to break the ice. I don’t have a problem with the boy who tries hard to score and comes out.

“Just that his emotions are high, his anxiety is big in front of goals. Sometimes the ball falls on his left foot and not his right foot. But in the first the ball went to his right. He is trying so hard to get there.

“But we support him, he works hard. That’s why he is playing. That’s why he is in the starting line-up. It takes time. He will get there.”
