New Chiefs signing reflects on his Naturena stay

Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing Anthony Agay has shed light on his debut and how he’s settling in at the club.

Akumu has been at the Glamour Boys for just a month now after joining them from Zesco United, and particularly reflected on his debut after coming on as a substitute in their Nedbank Cup last 32 triumph against GladAfrica Championship outfit Royal Eagles.

“I was looking forward to getting a chance to play. I did not know it would come so early, for that I thank the technical team and my teammates for their support,” said Akumu on Chiefs’ website.

“I also thank God because everything went well for us and me personally [in that game]. It’s a great thing, I am so happy to have been part of the game against Royal Eagles and made history.

“I am looking forward to playing more and getting more game time as the season progresses.”

The 27-year-old Kenyan international also praised head coach Ernst Middendorp as well as the players for making his stay a welcome one.

“I am learning the philosophy of the team and the tactics of the coach. I am getting better and soon everything will be fall into place,” he added.

“My teammates have been very supportive. My former teammate at Zesco, Lazalous Kambole has been here which has helped. All the guys have guided me well for which I am grateful.”

Akumu will be hoping to play part again when Amakhosi take the short trip to Tembisa for a highly anticipated Nedbank Cup last 16 clash against Highlands Park on Saturday.
