Pirates, who have been eliminated from the Nedbank Cup, which is set to continue this coming weekend, will have a bit of rest to be ready for the clash, and have already confirmed injury to three of their players.

Ben Motshwari is recovering from an ankle sprain, new signing Nkanyiso Zungu recently suffered a groin injury, while Abel Mabaso is set for an extended time on the sidelines with a hamstring strain.

Chiefs on the other hand face the bigger risks with three key players already sitting on yellow cards ahead of their Ke Yona last 16 clash against Highlands Park on Saturday.

Reeve Frosler, Lebogang Manyama and Daniel Cardoso have all accumulated three yellow card bookings each so far, and should they play part in Chiefs’ clash against the Lions of the North, and further be booked, they will miss out on the Soweto derby due to suspension.

Head coach Ernst Middendorp is now faced with a selection dilemma on who to select as they look to challenge for both league and cup double honours.
