Sundowns gear up for league title battle against Chippa!

As the Absa Premiership reaches its critical stage, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to reduce the gap at the top when they host Chippa United on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Both sides will turn their focus on winning this one after they both won their Nedbank Cup last 32 matches which saw them book a place in the last 16.

The Chilli Boys hammered defending champions TS Galaxy 3-0 to secure the first spot while the Brazilians narrowly edged their neighbours SuperSport United 1-0.

Masandawana are most likely to be labelled as favourites having won 10 of their 18 games, drew five and lost three sitting on third place with 35 points, while Chippa had a rough start having won five of their 21 games with seven draws and nine defeats.

Head-to-head

Overall, the two sides have met 16 times with Sundowns grabbing eight wins and two defeats while the Eastern Cape-based team won only two, lost eight and six games ended with a share of spoils.
