Pitso Mosimane’s charges only promoted promising youngster Promise Mkhuma to the first team by handing him a five-year deal.

The player in question is according to TimesLIVE, Bidvest Wits star striker Gift Motupa who has been firing on all cylinders for the Braamfontein-based outfit.

Motupa’s head coach Gavin Hunt has since come out guns blazing, having a go at counterpart Mosimane for the comments he made about the striker.

“Obviously it is important to keep Gift,” said Hunt as quoted by TimesLIVE.

“I saw a report in the paper today that is really disturbing from another coach about our player, about us turning down a certain amount of money.

“It’s a disgrace you know. That thing should never be like that.”

Pitso was quoted saying: “I’m not disrespecting other teams here. But really, who is worth R22m? How much is he earning monthly? I’m just saying.”

Hunt added that the player had lost focus of late, despite the ex-Orlando Pirates man coming off the bench to score the equalizing against his former side in the Nedbank Cup this past weekend which eventually led to Wits progressing on penalties.

“The boy’s head is in a cloud because of all the talking from everybody you know. It’s disappointing,” said Hunt.

The 25-year-old Bafana Bafana marksman has netted 12 goals in all competitions this season since joining the Clever Boys from Baroka FC.
