Khune was handed his first start in over four months after getting the nod ahead of Nigerian international Daniel Akpeyi in their 1-0 win over Royal Eagles in the Nedbank Cup last 32 round at the weekend.

The 32-year-old shotstopper kept another clean sheet on his return to goals since featuring in Amakhosi’s 2-0 win over Baroka FC in October 2019.

When quizzed about who would be in goals next for their upcoming game, Middendorp opted to play his cards close to his chest saying:

“We have good goalies. All of them qualified to do the job for us. Let’s hear what the technical team says, ” Middendorp told Kaizer Chiefs’ official website.

“I will be guided by their advice. Akpeyi has done well for us, saving us in certain situations. Maybe Khune will be back in goals soon.”

The Glamour Boys take on bogey team Maritzburg United at FNB Stadium on Saturday, February 15, as they further look to stretch their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership standings.
