Mbali Ntuli will sketch out her plans to run for the Democratic Alliance(DA) leadership position on Thursday.
Ntuli will for the first time address the media about her bid to take over the leadership of the country’s official opposition.
The former DA Youth leader surprised many by announcing that she will be raising her hand for the DA’s top job.
Ntuli, who is currently serving in the Kwa-Zulu legislature, says she will announce why she is contesting for the position.
” Tomorrow (Thursday) I will be having a press conference to outline why I am running an why I think the DA needs a new way,” Ntuli said.
Ntuli is seeking to become the first black woman to lead the DA. However, she is expected to face a stiff competition.
Gauteng DA leader John Moody and Bonginkosi Madikizela have announced that they will be throwing their names in the hat.
It is not clear whether Ntuli’s home province of Kwa-Zulu Natal will be backing her bid to take over from John Steenhuisen.
Steenhuisen, who is currently serving as the interim leader, is also expected to announce his intention to take over on a permanent basis.
