Top 4 bubbly’s of the week

Just because it’s January doesn’t mean summer has ended. Bubbly is always a good idea.

Here are the top four bubbly’s worth trying this week.

BOTTEGA MILLESIMATO BRUT

This distinct bubbly comes from a selection of Glera grapes that originate a sparkling wine with a great personality.

Also, great creating a fabulous mimosa and serving it with fish or salmon.

KRONE BOREALIS BRUT

Elegant, iridescent gold. Bursts of elderflower and apple blossom intermingle with orange peel and crushed oyster shell. There’s a citrusy-tingle of baobab pods on palate entry, edged in that salinity so characteristic of the 2018 vintage. Taut, lean and fresh; kumquat and naartjie come to the fore evolving into salted caramel.

The mousse is fine-beaded and toned, with a graceful trajectory into a tensile finish that promises to become more biscuity as it ages.

L’Ormarins Brut

Fine bead and string of pearl bubbles. Aromas of tarte tartin, apple and cinnamon with a light pear drop and biscuit nuance. Bright vivacious and crisply zesty in the mouth.

Tangy lime and green apple crunch with a richer, deeper, biscuit and sourdough undertone. The zingy citrus and creamy lees flavours are well balanced with acidity and fruit in complete harmony. Poised and elegant with a lingering aftertaste.

GRAHAM BECK BRUT ROSE

Exuberance, flair and elegance in abundance are all hallmarks of this charming and exhilarating Rosé Cap Classique. A lengthy lees time resulted in subtle yeasty characters with a burst of fruit flavour.

The fine, lively mousse is brisk on the palate, showing hints of oyster shell, fresh lavender and subtle hints of berry and cherry.

Fun and versatile, yet simultaneously satisfyingly complex, the Brut Rosé is an anywhere, anytime Cap Classique.
