Julan, 23, was a teammate of Bafana Bafana midfield maestro Lebogang Phiri at the French outfit.

The club confirmed the tragic news on their official Twitter page.

“The club had the immense pain of learning this afternoon of the accidental death of their player Nathael Julan.

“On this tragic day, all the members of the club join together to send their condolences to Nathael’s family,” Guingamp released in a statement, as translated from French.

Julan is said to have been on his way home from training when he lost control of his Audi Q5 SUV, and was declared dead at the accident scene near the town of Saint-Brieuc.

The club has since canceled their friendly match which was scheduled for this afternoon against Concarneau.

Julan joined Guingamp from Le Havre’s junior ranks in 2018, but was sent to Valenciennes on loan in January 2019.
