Sabah, who play in Azerbaijan’s Premier League, confirmed on their official Facebook account that they have parted ways with Ekstein by mutual agreement after the club struggled to move up the log standings.

“Sabah FC have parted ways with Hendrick Ekstein. The contract was terminated with the South African midfielder by mutual agreement,” the statement read.

Ekstein joined Sabah as a free agent mid-2019, scoring three goals in 16 appearances during his stay there.

Sabah are currently sat in sixth spot on the league standings, and were this past week eliminated from the Azerbaijan Cup in the quarter-final stages.
