The ANC has called on the DA to come out clear about a court interdict to set aside the removal of Tshwane mayor and the Speaker.

It has since emerged that the court application to revoke the removal of Stevens Mokgalapa and Katlego Mathebe was not made by the City’s accounting officers.

Mokgalapa and Mathebe were removed in motions of no confidence against them by the ANC and the EFF.

However, the ANC chairperson in Tshwane Kgosi Maepa says he wants to know the person who filled a court order to revoke the decision to remove both Mokgalapa and Mathebe.

” The ANC has seen papers of the Acting City Manager sent to court, indicating that the City of Tshwane has never brought an application to revoke or set aside resolutions of the Council meetings to remove both Speaker and Mayor respectively,” Maepa said.

Maepa believes the DA might have contravened the legislative processes by filing that urgent interdict and has called the party to come out clear.

The City, which has been put under administration by the Gauteng provincial government, remains a hotly contested space for power.

Both the ANC and EFF want to remove the DA out of power and the DA seems to be giving both parties the right ammunition.

The DA is yet to respond to Maepa’s allegations and the court will hear the Speaker/Mayor’s court interdict next week.
