“We are greatly concerned about MSc student, Asanele Same, who has been reported as missing at SAPS. According to social media posts, she was last seen on Friday, 6 December 2019. We call on anyone who has more information to please contact Stellenbosch SAPS at (021) 809 5015.”, says SU in a public statement.

Fellow students say Same, who is a former student at the University of Fort Hare, left her room on campus grounds locked. CCTV footage provided by SU apparently shows her leaving the institution’s library on the day she was last seen.
The safety of young women across the country has come under the spotlight in recent weeks following the brutal killing of Capricorn College student Precious Ramabulana and UCT’s Uyinene Mrwetyana.
