Miss SA Sasha-Lee Olivier heads for Miss World stage this weekend

The 69th edition of the Miss World pageant and will take place at the ExCeL London, United Kingdom this Saturday, December 14, when Vanessa Ponce of Mexico crowns her successor.

Reigning Miss South Africa Sasha-Lee Olivier, who as first runner-up to winner Zozibini Tunzi, assumed the title after Zozi won the Miss Universe 2019 this week.

The last time South Africa won the Miss World title was in 2014 when Rolene Strauss walked away with the crown.

Sasha-Lee is a model from Alberton, Johannesburg who’s also pursuing a double major in marketing and psychology at Wits University.

The 26-year-old’s Beauty with Purpose project for the competition aims to focus on helping survivors of sexual assault.


Hosted by English-born Australian media personality and businessman Peter Andre, and Scottish singer-songwriter, TV personality and businesswoman Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, the extravagant event will feature finalists vying for the prestigious title of Miss World.

The Miss World 2019 finale will air this Saturday 14 December at 17:00 on on SABC 3.
