The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on the entire Eskom board to step down following the power crisis in the country.
WATCH: Stage 6 load shedding has South Africa’s economy firmly on its knees
The country had for the first experienced stage 6 of load shedding in the last two days.
Eskom announced that it will revert back to stage 2 of load shedding on Wednesday.
The EFF believes that the Eskom board continue to let down many South Africans down and should recuse itself from leading the power utility.
” We demand that the entire board of Eskom and Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan must immediately step and should never be involved in anything that has to do with Eskom,” a statement stated.
” A team of engineers and experts, including those who have ended load shedding before should be appointed to come with a clear maintenance plan which will be rolled in all power stations.”
The Red Berets believe the current load shedding is an act of sabotage and created by Jabu Mabuza and Pravin Gordhan.
Eskom’s problems have forced President Cyril Ramaphosa to cut short his working trip in Egypt.
Ramaphosa is set to meet with Eskom board members and the executive team this morning.
Eskom’s board chair Jabu Mabuza and his team are expected to brief Ramaphosa about measures in place to ensure load shedding comes to an end.
