A government Minister and MEC have visited flood-hit parts of Tshwane to see the damage caused by the persistent rain with their own eyes today.

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Minister Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is taking Gauteng MEC for COGTA Lebogang Maile along with her during her tour of of the affected areas which began at Nellmapius Community Hall this morning.
While Gauteng is the hardest hit with some residents needing to be evacuated from buildings and some having been relocated to community halls and churches parts of North West Province, Mpumalanga and Limpopo have not been spared according to the Department of Cooperative Governance.

Dlamini-Zuma urged all citizens to remain on high alert as the rain continues to fall across the region.
“I urge you all to listen to the radio and consistently seek alerts issued by your local municipalities as this is crucial in avoiding areas that are unsafe and also getting information on where you can get assistance in case you get stranded,”
Her department says it is coordinating multi-disciplinary interventions through the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) to respond to the devastation.
