Former Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba has called on South Africans to stop relying on political parties for the country’s socio-economic problems.
Mashaba launched a people’s driven initiative aimed at helping ordinary citizens find ways to tackle socio-economic issues.
The initiative, which is called the People’s Dialogue, was launched on Friday by the former mayor of Johannesburg.
Mashaba, who resigned as mayor last month, believes it is time people stop believing in political parties.
” If we rely on our political parties for solutions, we will never succeed,” Mashaba said.
” This is why I believe in a people-driven engagement, focussing on turning South Africa around.”
Mashaba, however, is expected to join forces with Mmusi Maimane in launching a new party.
It is reported both Maimane and Mashaba, who resigned as members of the Democratic Alliance, will launch a new party in due course.
