AS Roma expresses ‘disgust’ at Corriere dello Sport’s racist headline!

Roma has expressed their disgust at Italian paper Corriere dello Sport’s for their front page on Thursday morning.

Seeing Inter versus Roma’s Serie A match, Italian production utilized the feature “Black Friday” using images of former Manchester United partners Romelu Lukaku and Chris Smalling.

Lukaku joined Inter in the late spring for £72m (R117 billion), while Smalling left Old Trafford for Rome on loan for the rest of the season.

Inter additionally posted their very own message on their social media page, affirming their restriction to “any form of discrimination”.

Furthermore, ESPN writer Matteo Bonetti tweeted his incredulity: “Tone deaf, ignorant & with the usual racial undertones. Saying I’m shocked would be a lie at this point. Absolute embarrassment from @CorSport to come up with this title for Friday’s clash between Inter and Roma.”

Italian football’s issues with racism have all been reported this season.

Mario Balotelli got racist comments from Hellas Verona fans, who made monkey remarks while playing for Brescia and booted the ball into the stands in counter.

Lukaku got comparative treatment when he scored against Cagliari, for which the Sardinian club was not rebuffed for.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) administered there was insufficient proof for any authorizations in spite of it being the third time Cagliari have been investigated for racist abuse over the past two years, following cases including Moise Kean and his former Juventus teammate Blaise Matuidi – no action was taken on any of those events either.
