Kaizer Chiefs midfield meastro George Maluleka has reportedly attracted huge interest from one of Scotland’s biggest teams.
Maluleka, 30, is currently in the last year of his contract with Amakhosi, and could be eager to make an overseas move once his contract comes to an end in January.
According to SunSport, Glasgow Rangers, who are managed by former Liverpool captain and legend Steven Gerrard, are said to have been keeping close tabs on the Chiefs man.
‘Mido’ has been part of the Chiefs set up since joining them from SuperSport United during the 2013/14 season.
SunSport sources further confirmed that some of Rangers’ scouts attended Chiefs’ last match when they ran riot of Stellenbosch FC with a 4-0 crushing win at the Cape Town Stadium last week, though Maluleka did not manage to get a run.
His agent, Shaun Roberts, neither confirmed nor denied the interest in his client, saying Maluleka is more focused on his task at hand with the Glamour Boys as they continue to lead the Absa Premiership standings.
“It’s a delicate situation at the moment. Call me in the new year and we can have a proper conversation,” said Roberts, as quoted by SunSport.
“At the moment, George is happy at Kaizer Chiefs and obviously playing well and is a regular.
“I think we can sort of have a conversation properly in the new year.”
Chiefs will next face Bloemfontein Celtic for their next league fixture, and take the trip to Durban where they will honour their match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, December 7.
