Vodacom and MTN are required to immediately reduce data prices according to the Competition Commission.
If the two network providers fail to reach this agreement, it will lead to the commission going ahead with prosecution for excessive pricing.
Concerned South Africans are not satisfied with what the agreement stated.
“Now you talking? But there is one thing missing, ‘within 24 hours’, we can’t wait for many more years while they are planning to reduce prices” Sanele Sano Ngcobo commented in a post.
The war against data prices in South Africa has been ongoing for several years.
The data services inquiry was launched in August 2018 in response to a request from the minister of economic Development and after complaints from consumers about high data costs.
