Augustine Makgata will resume his duties as the new acting City Manager in the troubled municipality next month.

The City is once again facing corruption allegations, following the awarding of 16 million contract to Aurecon and also the Wonderboom corruption saga.

ANC chairperson in the Tshwane region Kgosi Maepa has called on Makgata to act tough against corruption.

” We call on him to clean the City of Tshwane and remove corruption and malfeasance,” Maepa said.

Maepa still maintains that the Democratic Alliance should be removed from running the municipality.

Maepa and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are still fighting to remove under-fire mayor Stevens Mokgalapa from his position.

EFF’s motion of no confidence against Mokgalapa was rejected by the Speaker of the Council Katlego Mathebe on Thursday.

However, the ANC and the EFF are expected to further push Mathebe to accept the motion.

The Red Berets leadership have stated that they will be seeking a court order to force the Speaker to accept the motion.
