Vodacom’s Andries Delport resigns after 23-years

After 23 years with the Vodacom Group, long-serving chief technology officer Andries Delport has resigned from the telecommunications operator.

Delport serves as one of the longest-serving executives with the group since he joined in 1996. TechCentral learnt from a reliable source that Delport “will join Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), the Remgro-controlled parent of Dark Fibre Africa and Vumatel.”

The exiting CTO will be joining former group CEO Pieter Uys, who also held the position of group CTO.

In a letter to staff on Tuesday Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub said: “Andries has been a key member of the Vodacom family for the past 23 years and his contribution to the group has been immeasurable.”

Delport will end his tenure with Vodacom in May 2020 while a suitable successor will be announced.
