Magashule and the national leadership are set to meet with Bongo, who is currently the Parliamentary chairperson on Home Affairs this weekend.

Bongo, who is out on bail after he was arrested by the Hawks on Thursday on corruption charges, will be asked to step down from his position as chair of Parliamentary Committee.

Magashule received the report from the ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina on the matter and he is expected to ask Bongo to step down from his position to clear his name on the corruption charges.

Bongo is facing corruption charges emanating from his alleged bribing to the then evidence leader of the Eskom’s Parliamentary inquiry.

Bongo was appointed to chair the Home Affairs committee after the May general elections.

Opposition parties such as the DA and EFF have called for Bongo to be removed from his position in Parliament.
