Footballer banned for forging his age!

CAF confederation Cup winner forward Meschack Elia has been handed a 12 months ban for falsifying his age.

The Congolese footballer has allegedly changed his birth year from 1996 to 1997 and the Democratic Republic of Congo Football Federation has found the player guilty of age fraud.

“Very heavy penalty for Meschack Elia! The Congolese player has been banned for one year from all the sports facilities of the national teams of DR Congo, CAF and FIFA,” read a statement from DRC Football Federation

“The Congolese Football Federation hit hard after grabbing the file of the player who wanted to have asylum in Switzerland while trying to use a tampered passport, while he was announced doing tests with Anderlecht.

“Recalling the facts, the TP Mazembe and the National Football Federation is reporting announcing that the players is banned for 12 months.”

Based on Congolese reports, the 23-year-old was attempting to join Switzerland outfit BSC Young when he got himself into trouble.

The TP Mazembe forward was part of the DR Congo squad that participated in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt earlier this year.
