Emtee on his next album: “It’s going to be different because I have freedom of creativity now, freedom of speech.”

Rapper Emtee’s had a tumultuous year. From his messy break-up with Ambitiouz Entertainment, to being homeless and stripped of awards he earned for his music, Mthembeni Ndevu is bouncing back in 2020.

In an interview with Drum, the Roll Up rapper revealed that after breaking free from his former record label, he’ll be releasing an EP to introduce his new sound.

“It is going to be different because I have freedom of creativity now, freedom of speech,” he says. “I’ll be touching on important topics which I’ve always wanted to touch on as well as the fun ones.”

Emtee, who started his own record label earlier this year, told MTV Base Africa’s Behind the Label that he recalls not being able to relish his first ever SA Hip Hop Award win and share the victory with his family while he was still with Ambitiouz.

“I was very happy and everyone was congratulating me while I had the award in my hand. The boss man then comes up behind and says, ‘Give me what’s mine’. When I checked, the award had my name on it.”

After announcing that he was pumping the brakes on his music for a minute earlier this year, Emtee won’t leave fans hanging this December though.

“I will drop the single around December then drop something top of 2020.”
